Why?

This year I’m going to try and read more. As I’ve gotten older, I tend not to read as much both because of less time and because of some visual issues I now have. I’m trying to buck that trend in 2016 and am creating this blog to keep a record of what I’ve read. This is for two reasons: To encourage me to read more and remind me of what I’ve read already. I tend to have a poor memory for things I read that aren’t amazing so I’m constantly asking myself, “Did I read that already?” This will hopefully end that problem.

I’ll list not only books I read in their entirety but also any articles or short stories as well. I tend to read a number of both and will be reading more in support of a couple of writing projects I hope to tackle either this year or in 2017.

Comments are appreciated but keep in mind that my review of anything here is purely my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

About Sam Gafford

My name is Sam Gafford and I've been doing critical work on William Hope Hodgson for many years. I wrote the article "Writing Backwards: The Novels of William Hope Hodgson" in which I presented evidence that WHH wrote his novels in the reverse order in which they were published. I've recently written an article on Hodgson's confrontation with Houdini and am currently working on a book length study of WHH.
